Non-ajax implementations do not fill the screen automatically so you will have to click the 'display matching records' button after you enter your search criteria.
Help screen for Find Election Close
Step 1: Election Name. Type part of the name and press "Find". OR, leave blank and proceed to step 2.
At this time, the text must exist in the election description exactly as typed: So, 1975 General will find matches but 1975 Mayor will not.
Step 2: Filter Results. You can limit your search by checking particular political offices, years or election types.
As you check items, then elections will be limited to the items you checked. For instance, Check Treasurer and Mayor to make all other offices go away
Step 3: Choose Item. All items that match your search (or at least the first 500!) will appear at the bottom of the screen. Just click one to go the the election details page for that election.
Example: To find available ward 18 primary elections from the 1970s. The following steps can be done in any order:
- Click the years from the 1970s. As you add years additional items will show up in the choice list
- Click the election type you want (primary). All the general and special elections will go away
- At this point you can click 'Alderman' under political offices and pick out the ward 18 items
- OR, you can type 'Ward 18' in the search text and hit "Find"
